Supplier diversity expertise

Report on your spend

Report on your spend with Māori and/or Pasifika businesses. We can confidentially cross reference your supplier spend data with verified Māori and/or Pasifika businesses so you have a baseline of your supplier diversity. This includes total value spent, number of contracts and percentage of total spend. (Aumatua and Aukōkiri members)

The application process

To be become an Amotai buyer you need to complete the online application process and pay a membership fee. As soon as you have completed the online application process and paid for your membership you will gain immediate access to the register of Amotai businesses. Your buyer profile will be reviewed by Amotai and published on the buyer register within 2 business days.

How Buyer memberships work

We have three tiers of membership, Aukōkiri, Aumatua and Autere. Aukōkiri memberships are limited and are currently closed, however you can still become an Aumatua or Autere member.

Buyer Membership fees

Our Buyer Memberships offer buyers 3 options of support.

Aukōkiri Membership - $14,375.00 (incl GST) (Currently closed)

We provide 8 hours/month of dedicated support to Aukōkiri members as well as complimentary tickets to our annual summit, access to resources such as online learning resources, matching making services and access to our supplier database.


Aumatua Membership - $8,625.00 (incl GST)

We provide 4 hours/month of dedicated support to Aumatua members as well as access to resources such as online learning resources, matching making services and access to our supplier database.


Autere Membership - $2,760.00 (GST Incl)

This is a self-directed membership and organisations have access to our supplier database to search for suppliers.

Membership FAQs

Amotai has a tiered membership for the differing needs of Buying organisations. Each tier is named after an 'Au' - the Māori word for sea current.

We have reviewed our membership offerings, and from 24th January 2022, our new membership offerings will be as outlined below:

Autere

Autere means Drifting Current. This level of membership is for organisations that are just wanting to dip their toes in the water. It is completely self-service and just gives you access to the Amotai online Directory of businesses.

This level of membership is designed for those that need to search for businesses autonomously.

Autere:

  • Access to Amotai supplier database with 2 licenses
  • Champion badge
  • Newsletters and updates

Aumatua

Aumatua means Primary Current. This level of membership is for organisations that want all the essentials to get going with supplier diversity within their organisation. It has support from the Amotai team for some of the essential services to connect and procure from Amotai businesses.

Aumatua:

  • Match-making services with Amotai businesses
  • Access to Amotai supplier database with 10 user licenses
  • Discounted cost for the Supplier Diversity Essentials online programme
  • Discounted entry to Amotai Summit
  • Access to supplier diversity resource materials and videos

Aukōkiri

Aukōkiri means the driving current. This level of membership is for organisations that are wanting to excel and lead supplier diversity and receives bespoke support from dedicated Amotai members. We have limited spaces at Aukōkiri level.

Aukōkiri:

  • Dedicated support from Amotai including connection to Regional Relationship Managers
  • Match-making services with Amotai businesses
  • Access to Amotai supplier database
  • Discounted cost for the Supplier Diversity Essentials online programme
  • Discounted entry to Amotai Summit

Additional Support for All Levels

Amotai is able to provide additional support for your organisation at an affordable cost. Support includes:

  • Co-ordinating "Meet the Buyer events" with Amotai suppliers
  • Deliverying supplier diversity and social procurement training workshops
  • Supporting supplier diversity conferences
  • Arranging Buyer/Supplier events
  • Supplier engagement support

Amotai verifies that supplier members meet the below criteria.

Māori or/and Pasifika-owned business are defined as enterprises where:

* Partnerships: at least 50% of each class of partnership interest is owned by Māori and/or Pasifika person(s) and such ownership must be reflected in the partnership agreement; or

* Corporations/companies: Māori and/or Pasifika person(s) own at least 50% of each class of ordinary voting shares issued and at least 50% of each class of all other shares issued; or

* Trusts: at least 50% of owner(s) of securities or assets held in trust are Māori and/or Pasifika person(s); or

* Sole proprietorship/trader: 100% ownership by a Māori and/or Pasifika person.

Māori are defined as people with Māori whakapapa and who identify as Māori.

As defined by Statistics New Zealand, Pacific peoples are people who whakapapa to, and identify as, descendants of the indigenous Pacific ethnic groups of Samoa, Cook Islands, Tonga, Niue, Fiji, Tokelau, Tuvalu, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands and the small island states of Micronesia.

Statistics New Zealand recognises people with Indigenous Fijian ancestry as being Pacific peoples, however this does not include people of Indo-Fijian descent.

Amotai also recognises people who whakapapa to Hawai’i and Tahiti as Pacific peoples.

Yes, if you are an Aumatua or Aukōkiri buyer member of Amotai. Your company details will be viewable by Amotai registered Māori and Pasifika suppliers. These details include company name, contact details and procured services. You will be able to review and edit your profile as part of the membership application process.

To be a buyer member of Amotai, you need be an organisation that procures goods, services or works from other businesses. You also need to pay a monthly membership fee to have access to the register and support services from Amotai.

Yes, anywhere in the world. We register Māori and/or Pasifika owned businesses that sell goods, services and works to buyer members with spend across Aotearoa.

Additional costs will be dependent on your level of membership. The best way to ensure that you won’t incur additional costs is to be an Aukōkiri member of Amotai.
