Building stronger connections: ACCIONA and Amotai host supplier Meet & Greet in Te Hana

ACCIONA Meet and Greet

30 April 2025

Following the success of the Whangārei event in November last year, ACCIONA reaffirmed their commitment to supplier diversity by partnering once again with Amotai to host another Meet and Greet - this time in Te Hana.

Held in March at the Te Hana Te Ao Mārama Cultural Centre, the event created a powerful setting for whakawhanaungatanga, relationship building, and mana-enhancing kōrero between buyers and experienced Māori and Pasifika suppliers.

ACCIONA came with open intentions, to introduce their global approach to supplier diversity, be transparent about their infrastructure interests in Te Tai Tokerau, and most importantly, to listen. They spoke honestly about their successes, their learnings, and their ongoing commitment to doing better in supporting local suppliers.

They welcomed feedback on key issues such as tier 1 engagement processes, project sizing, and onboarding requirements - showing a genuine willingness to adapt and improve.

The feedback from attendees spoke volumes:

“Was nice to know that their focus is to help the smaller companies grow.” – Jeremy Veza, Veza Drainage and Civil
“This event provided me with valuable insights and connections to position my business for upcoming infrastructure opportunities. I appreciated the emphasis on supporting local businesses and communities within the tender process.” – Maaka McKinney, Zola Civil Innovation
“The project was clearly explained – that it is still in the design phase – so lots of time to go, but good to see the planning, and to be involved at this early stage. Keep up the engagement, be clear on requirements and give us time to prepare, as we do not have large bidding teams. We appreciate good relationships that help build the business relationship.” – Rhys Faleafā, First Civil
“Tino pai rawa atu – a great experience and a wonderful example of a best-practice organisation – well done ACCIONA, and to Amotai for the important role you play.” – Jude Thompson, Lead Advisor Economic Recovery – Regional Public Service Taitokerau

As with the first event, this gathering in Te Hana showed what’s possible when genuine engagement is at the centre of supplier diversity efforts. With momentum building, Amotai looks forward to supporting similar events across the motu, creating more opportunities to connect capable businesses with organisations committed to inclusive procurement.
